Photo Gallery 5 - STU'S LAST TRIP

Stu Mackinnon took his last canoe trip with me in 2004. It was our 28th together, one every year since 1977. Stu died on Sept 12, 2004 as a result of the injuries he received after being struck by an automobile while riding his bicycle near Edmonton, Alberta in late July, 2004. He had retired several years earlier from the University of Alberta where he was a professor of history. He was a great friend and he will be missed. These twelve photographs from Stu's last trip were taken by Fred Sparling of Moncure, NC only a few weeks before Stu's accident.
